I wanted to find a hobby that wasn't just for men but for women too, I wasn't in to all this knitting and crocheting it wasn't my scene at all.
As I was growing up my dad who owned a skiphire company had brought a van and instead of playing with my dolls I wanted to help my dad do up his van, for a thing for women to be interested I know but I was more of a tom boy than a girlie girl.
It took many months for us to do up the van till it was in nearly new condition not that I was much help anyway but I was holding the odd spanner and wrench and giving things a wipe down when dad asked me too, but my main job was just standing around passing him things when he needed them and then going to tell mum when he wanted a cup of tea or a beer, the main thing was I did it with my dad and many years later I would realise just how special a time that would of been.
My brother recently bought himself a motorbike, he phoned me up the day he got it and I drove over to have a look at the beast, oh my the motorbike was on the drive as I pulled up outside his house when he had said it was a beast he wasnt wrong, this motorbike looked amazing, gleaming in the brilliant sunshine I could already hear the engine roaring before he turned it on, then again that could of just been my heart beating and my pulse racing from excitement.
My brother had been standing at the window awaiting my arrival and as soon as he saw me stop the car he came racing out of the house to stand proudly next to his beast, he asked me if i would like to go for a spin on it, I was already on the bike before he had gone to get me the helmet I couldn't wait he came back with the helmet chuckling to himself and when i asked him what he was finding so funny, he said the guy in the bike shop when describing the bike told me it definitely wasn't a bike for women yet here you are just as excited as i was to get out on it.
I thought to myself the cheek how dare he but then again i was no ordinary woman.
