With the current financial crisis the whole country is in, alot of people are extension building and under going refurbishment projects, as a pose to buying a new house. Just before the crisis we were due to be finished with paying our mortgage so we had planned on taking out another mortgage, selling our current house and buying a much bigger house in a different area. Unfortunately things happened, the country fell into massive debt and we could not get the mortgage. Plus I very much doubt we would have had much joy selling the house, as quickly as we had hoped.

Anyway, we started looking into extension building and refurbishment projects. My partner knew someone who worked for an extension building company and together we drew up some plans of our new extension building. A few weeks later the building was under way and I started looking into complete refurbishment projects. When we had arranged all the work to be done and got the plans ready we moved in with friends for a few weeks while the house got spruced up. I went to visit the house a few times and it was strange to no longer see our home, just a load of bricks. There were 2 midi skip hire skips outside absolutely full of our old home. It was a bit sad to see but I knew with in a few months this pile of bricks would be our dream home.

Finally the day came to move back to our new home. It was amazing the difference from the pile of bricks that were there just a few weeks earlier. I am so glad I decided not to sell and move, we now have our dream house, exactly the way we envisioned it. I would definitely recommend refurbishing a home, as a pose to moving. We have a conservatory and and massive kitchen which is in the extension building, and our old kitchen we changed to a wet room and toilet. I just wish we had a big land so I can add more rooms to my house.
