My aunt hired some builders to build an extension building on to her property a few years ago. She didn't want a massive extension building, as her garden is not that big, and she is very much into gardening, so she just requested a little sun room that she could go and sit in on nice days.

The extension building was built and was just what she had hoped for. It was really nice and me and my brother helped to decorate it. From the outside of the extension building, you can not see any bricks. It looks like its been made entirely from wood. Inside, you can see the bricks, but we covered them with some mahogany wood paneling to match the window frames and it looked really nice.

Recently though, she had to have some of the bricks replaced as there was a leak somewhere, and the bricks were soaking and had started to crumble. When the waste lorry came out to take the bricks and damaged wood, they parked their waste lorry outside my aunts house. One of the neighbours knocked on my aunts door complaining, saying this is a nice area, and we don't things like a waste lorry and builders vans parked outside our houses. My aunt could not believe what she was hearing and one of the builders told the women to get lost. Within half an hour, the police came out. The women had gone home phoned the police and she had told them that the builder had threatened her. After telling the police what really happened, they said that they had to come out to view the situation, but the women was forever phoning the police about people parking in the street who didn't live there, kids walking past her house and dropping litter and she had also tried to get the council to move the bus stop into the next street. It turns out that women didn't even live in my aunty's street anyway.

After all the interruptions, the builders finished repairing the extension building and I helped to redecorate it again, and it looks lovely. If I lived in an area that I liked and had little space, I would definitely consider and extension building, before selling up. Her sun room is a lovely little room, it's not taken up much of her garden and has alot of storage space.
