I just had the most interesting day today and am so excited to tell someone. You know being I am only 10 years old, my life isn’t that exciting, but I try to make the most out of it each day.

Today there were doing something with a house, but can’t really tell what they were doing. Being I was just watching them and they noticed me, they asked me to come over and big part of the crew today. I even got my own hard hat to wear.

There was this great bin that the men put trash in. It looked almost like a garbage truck, except the bin part was movable. It looked like something you could attach to the back of the truck and lift it up. The boss saw me looking at it and he told me it was a local skip hire. A local skip hire is where you go to your own town to get a huge bin like this to do the projects like this. It can be removing old carpet, old flooring, or some kind of refurbishment projects that we work on also. We are using this local skip hire for this house because the homeowners want us to do something to make it bigger.

Now some local skip hire we will put in for waste collection. That is where the materials are all recyclable. I don’t know if you remember this a few years back, but we did something that is called extending your house. You remember back then when we added a back bedroom to your house, and we had to put up plastic on your wall. You were only about 5 years old then and you were full of questions. We had a local skip hire for your house also, and I think we had 2 of them.

Now as he started talking about it, I do remember that and I remember one time one of those local skip hire was filled to the top. I remember this big truck coming in to pick it up and he went to dump it and then he brought it back.

No wonder things look familiar around here when you are working. I have heard my parents talking about we have a person that does construction work that lives besides us, but never knew it was you. Well I do want to say thanks to you and you have explained things very well to me. I think when I grow up; I want to be a construction worker also.
