extending your house can be a painstaking affair, which is what Clyde and Gracie found out last year when they were trying to add an extra room for Gracie's aging mother who needed around the clock care. The first major obstacle they faced was when they realized they needed a rubbish skip hire, and had never before needed one. Therefore, they had no idea where to turn or if some companies were better than others.
They basically just took a shot in the dark, and decided upon the first rubbish skip hire they came across in the telephone book. They figured they were all pretty much the same anyways, as rubbish is rubbish.
They first problem they had was that the rubbish skip hire company would not take bricks, which caused quite a problem as their house was made of bricks. Knocking out an exterior wall then created the need to get rid of the bricks, which they now couldn't do because the rubbish skip hire wouldn't take them. They ended up being creative with the bricks, however, and built a beautiful piece of art in their back yard. It's hard to say exactly what it was exactly, but as far as I'm concerned it was as much modern art as many things I've seen in the museum.
They came to find out later in their renovation process that the company was very particular about their waste collection. They wouldn't take this, and they wouldn't take that. The art pieces in their back yard began to multiply, and eventually they had to start making art for their neighbors as they had run out of room in their own space.
It wasn't a total loss however. A major art collector happened to be driving through the neighborhood one fine day, and spotted one of the artistic constructions as she was driving past. She was delighted at the intricacies of the neighborhood displays, and began to inquire as to who created the masterpieces. She was led to Clyde and Gracie, and much to their surprise the art collector wanted them to construct a piece for her. She was willing to pay a large sum for them to make something for her. They were of course more than happy to comply. It was a financial relief for them, since the house add on was breaking their bank account.
After the piece they built for the collector, the rest is history, as they say.
