When I was a child my family went to stay in my aunt Jenny's cottage in Rye. It is a historical little town in East Sussex. I have many fond memories of it. When I almost at the end of my university course I applied for teaching positions. I got an interview at a school in Rye. I was so lucky because they offered me the job teaching their Year one and two class.
I thought that it would be pointless to rent a property to live in. I knew that it would be far more sensible to buy a house. I had a look in the estate agents windows. I was shocked that property was more expensive there than I had thought. I told four of the estate agents that I had up to one hundred thousand pounds to spend. I wanted to have a two bedroom house. Then I would be able to have guests stay.
I found a lovely one bedroom house down Military Road. It had a view of the River Rother. There was a walk along the river and then down a footpath to Camber Sands. It had a lounge, a kitchen, a bedroom and a bathroom. I went to the library and picked up a book called extending your house. I thought I could buy that lovely little house and then do an extension so then I would be able to have a second bedroom. I phoned up a builder to ask about the likely prices of doing an extension building.
I made an offer for the house for eighty nine thousand pounds and amazingly it was accepted. I had eleven thousand pounds to extend the house in the summer holidays. The paperwork went through really quickly and then the house became mine. Due to having minimal funds I wanted to do my refurbishment and extension as economically as possible. I looked in the Yellow Pages at midi skip hire. One of the mid skip hire businesses was called Do It Now Skip Hire. The midi skip hire cost me seventy pounds. The midi skip hire charge was per every twenty four hours. It took me longer than I had planned to load all the rubbish into it so the midi skip hire had ended up quite pricey.
I made dining room and toilet downstairs. I made a second bedroom upstairs. It was finished on 5 September which was perfect for the start of term. I adored my view of the River Rother. I liked to walk to Camber Sands. I went shopping in Hastings once a month. I was delighted to live in one of my favourite towns.
