DIY Heavan

Since long I was thinking of our flat refurbishment, but my husband refuses for the same. He says that our house is in quite a good condition and doesn’t need any refurbishment. I agree to what he says. This house was renovated a year back, i.e. a month before our marriage. Most of the construction work was done by my husband himself, fiancé at that time, including designing of the flat, choosing the layout, interior designing, till choosing the fabric for curtains and wall colour.

Our apartment is still in great condition and I don’t feel it requires any touch-up till next two to three years. However, I have some new ideas for our flat. It includes extension of our flat. We had some extra open space beyond our living room, which we use for plants. I wanted to extend our house till the edge so that open space can be the part of our house. Further I wanted that space to be used as a library. Me and my husband both are very fond of reading and we just love books. We have too many books lying in our cupboard. It’s totally messy. Having our own library can solve this problem. Further we will not hesitate to buy more and more books as we do now.

My husband told me that he will be going on a business visit for a month. I felt this will be the right time to implement my new plan and get things done and also surprise him with new renovation.

He left on Monday night for his trip. On Tuesday morning I called up a carpenter and told him about my requirement. My budget was tight that's why I thought of involving myself too into the project. I called up waste disposal services and also hired a mini skiphire. I decided to stick only to the extension plan and no more changes into the existing structure, that’s why I was sure there will not be too much of waste and I will be able to manage with a mini skiphire.

Skiphire was delivered to the doorstep same day itself. We started with our construction project. It took us fifteen days to construct wall and roof, in the open space. Flooring, furniture, painting etc. were still to be done. I doubt weather I will be able to finish it in the next half month. Our waste generation was also way more than expected, we required one more skiphire bin.

When we started working on the furnitures our second skiphire bin was also full. I thought to hire one more skiphire but later realized that the painting and flooring job will not create that much waste. Thus skip that idea.

Our work was finally over on 25th day. I was now waiting for those five days to pass quickly so that I can welcome my husband. He was shock to see this new home same time I could see the happiness on his face to have his own private library. He dint said much but his the smile on his face and watery eyes were thanking me for what I did.
